
Undergraduate program
The minor’s program in English for Professional Communication is a specialised skill development course consisting of two key components.
The first part includes content or studies related to listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the English language, which learners can study in the classroom, self-study according to their preferences through online media, or supplementary activities.
The second part involves applying the knowledge gained from the first part in real-life situations outside the classroom or in real situations with people from various cultures. The curriculum is designed and developed to be up to date in terms of content and teaching methods, following international standards using the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as a reference framework. Additionally, a blended learning approach, Hybrid Learning, is used for suitable subjects to enable learners to use English language skills as a tool for future skill development and to be competitive in the job market.

Course SyllabusThis course aims to improve students’ English oral communication and listening skills in an academic environment. They will practice communication for academic purposes, listening to materials from diverse sources such as lectures, seminars, and news reports. The course provides techniques for public speaking, along with opportunities for participating in debates and group discussions.
Course SyllabusDevelopment of international communicative business English. Improvement of fluency and accuracy in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Use of business related vocabulary. Application of existing business knowledge and theories in assignment completion.
Course SyllabusThis course aims to broaden and enhance student perspectives of the import-export business through development and practice of English language skills related to the field. The course content includes major topics relevant to import-export business/ international trade issues including Currency Exchange, International Organizations, Border Trade, Copyright and Intellectual Property, Containerization, and Electronic Commerce. Students will furthermore increase their proficiency in reading and writing English business documents specifically related to the import-export business e. g. letter of credit, invoices, bill of exchange, and bill of lading. Through presentations and roleplays in class, students will apply the technical terms and relevant concepts in import-export business in mock-up situations. Classroom activities and assignments will provide students with opportunities to practice English skills in the contexts related to import-export business.
Course SyllabusStudy of current political issues for the development of English. Application of updated political research, publications, media and political texts for English discussions, presentations and reflections. Study of different patterns of technical language used in political science. Practice in describing political concepts, narrating political problems, giving comments on political stances and integrating critical thinking in problem-solving activities
Course SyllabusDevelopment of language skills in English for economics through lectures, reading, and discussion of contemporary issues. Practice and use of relevant vocabulary and study skills including note taking, paraphrasing and group discussions of basic economic issues. Skills development in describing economic trends, making predictions, and conducting economic debates.
Course SyllabusDevelopment of structures and expressions for communication skills in the area of social work. Practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking relevant to the fundamentals of social work as well as social work issues.
Course SyllabusStudents enrolled in English for Mass Communication 1 will practice using language skills common to the field of mass communication. They will learn to identify the features of writing for media and gain the necessary skills to construct their own news articles. Students will learn the features of a successful media campaign and practice conducting one of their own. Vocabulary specific to the mediums of print media, radio, podcasts, film, and television will be practiced in appropriate contexts. Students will also exercise their critical thinking skills in reviewing and producing content

Practice of summarizing, giving definitions, describing processes, giving instructions, explaining cause and effect relationships, and describing compare and contrast relationships.
Course SyllabusThis course provides students with a further understanding of the forms and uses of the English language as they prepare to become functioning members of an international workforce. Building on foundations gained from EL200, students are encouraged to keep cultivating all aspects of their English language usage critically
and independently with a focus on professional writing and speaking. During the course, students become more aware, confident and critical of the way they use English in a global environment through examination of topics such as travel, future innovations, and intrapersonal awareness.

Course SyllabusThis course aims to further expand students’ understanding of the English used by professionals in the field of economics and develop their higher-level academic skills. It begins with a review of basic macroeconomic and academic concepts before exploring a range of economic situations with both a local and global focus. Throughout the course students are provided with stimulating and diverse text types to develop their reading and comprehension abilities, while listening to talks, discussions, lectures, radio shows, and presentations. Students are encouraged to engage with pressing economic issues as well as learn how to communicate their own points of view in group discussions. Advanced academic skills are expanded and evaluated in the form of an essay and academic presentation.
Course SyllabusThis course is designed to improve students’ four basic English skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking related to higher levels of sociology and anthropology. Special emphasis is placed on reading and writing advanced levels texts with issues of academic interest and awareness of professional ethics.
Course SyllabusTo enhance students’ academic English skills at an advanced level, enabling them to use academic English to define and explain items in advanced academic contexts. Students will also be instructed in the writing of different types of academic essays and practice academic skills essential for reporting results.
